Class of 2024 five-star small forward Billy Richmond has committed to Kentucky.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Camden High School (NJ) and NJ Scholars AAU program product, chose Kentucky over his other finalists Alabama, LSU and Memphis.
“The reason I chose Kentucky is because it felt like this where I need to be,” Richmond said to On3. “(It) felt like home basically. Great coaching staff, a lot of family ties which made it comfortable and confident for me to pick Kentucky, and just Cal always keeping it real with me.”
Richmond is following in the footsteps of his former Camden teammates DJ Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw — who are currently both averaging double-figure scoring for the Wildcats.
Kentucky has now bolstered its No. 2 ranked 2024 recruiting class even more. The Wildcats have NLI’s signed by five-star center Jayden Quaintance, five-star guard Boogie Fland, four-star center Somto Cyril and four-star guard Tylor Perry. Kentucky is also in the mix for two other five-star players in VJ Edgecombe and Karter Knox.
Richmond is ranked the No. 23 overall player in the 2024 class by 247Sports. He’s also the No. 5 overall shooting guard and No. 2 player in New Jersey.
“His upside is tremendous, one of the most gifted basketball players I’ve been around during my playing days and coaching,” Camden coach Maalik Wayns said. “He’s truly special sky is the limit!”
