Alabama has extended head coach Nate Oats to a long-term deal that will make him one of the top-five highest-paid coaches in the country, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported Friday.
Oats has amassed a 113-52 record in five seasons with the Crimson Tide, leading them to two SEC regular season titles and two SEC Tournament Championships.
Oats has been at the forefront of almost every major coaching rumor this offseason, with social media linking him to the Louisville and Michigan openings, among others, until today.
He’s made a career out of a unique, fast-tempo offense. The 21-10 Tide rank first in the country in points per possession (1.23) while having one of the shortest possession times at 14.6 seconds.
No. 3 seed Alabama takes on No. 6 seed Florida in the SEC quarterfinals Friday at 9:30 p.m.
