Adam Njie, a three-star guard out of Cardinal Hayes (NY.), has committed to Iona.
Ole Miss, Temple and Georgia were among the other schools involved.
“I chose Iona because I like Coach Tobin [Anderson] and they have good history of making it to the [NCAA] Tournament,” he said. “I will bring my play-making ability, my toughness and swagger.”
He was previously committed to Washington State, but decommited in August due to conference realignment.
“Adam is a tremendously skilled guard who will make an immediate impact in the MAAC,” Hayes coach Joe Lods said. “Coach Anderson did a tremendous job recruiting him, and Adam is the type of guard who can help get Iona back to the NCAA Tournament. In my 20 years at Hayes, it would be hard to find a guard as talented as Adam with the basketball in his hands. We thank and commend him for his loyalty to Hayes!!”
Njie joins 6-3 point guard Justin Menard (Haddam, CT), 6-9 versatile forward Jacob Hogarth (Hillburn, NY) and 6-3 scoring guard JoJo Wallace (New Milford, CT) in Iona’s 2024 class.
Wallace is the son of former Syracuse standout, seven-year NBA standout, and New York Knicks first round draft pick John Wallace.
“All three guys are great teammates, hard workers and culture guys,” Anderson said about the incoming trio. “They all love basketball, are always in the gym and all very talented. They fit for our system, our style, and our culture very well and will make us better the minute they walk on campus. We’re excited to add them to our mix look to all three to have major contributions to our program right away.”
