Several Kentucky commits are in the process of obtaining their releases in the wake of the coaching change that saw John Calipari leave for Arkansas.
Five-star center Jayden Quaintance has requested a release out of his letter of intent to Kentucky, per ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Quaintance — the 6-foot-9, 230 pound big man from Word of God Academy (NC) — committed to Kentucky this past November and picked the Wildcats over Dennis Gates and Missouri. The decommitment comes a day after Kentucky officially parted ways with John Calipari, who took the Arkansas job.
Quaintance was the highest-ranked recruit in Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class as the No. 8-ranked player in the country. The McDonald’s All-American was previously a member of the 2025 class before reclassifying. He is still 16 years old and will turn 17 in July.
Meantime, Somto Cyril has obtained his release, per Joe Tipton.
The 6-foot-10 Overtime Elite big man committed last June.
Five-star guard Karter Knox, the younger brother of former Kentucky forward Kevin Knox, also re-opened his recruitment.
Boogie Fland and Billy Richmond have yet to announce their plans.
