Oklahoma State transfer Eric Dailey committed to UCLA, he announced Tuesday.
Dailey was a former top-60 recruit in the class of 2023 and averaged 9.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 49.6% shooting in his freshman season with the Cowboys.
“What’s stood out about UCLA is the winning culture and rich history that the school has,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “Everybody here embodies excellence, and that’s something that I want to be a part of.”
“Coach Cronin is a Coach that has a history of winning and getting the most out of his players,” Dailey added. “He has a staff that echoes his passion for the game and leading players like myself down a road of success and opportunity.”
In terms of what he’ll bring to Los Angeles, Dailey mentioned his all-around game.
“I see myself as a versatile dual forward that is able to make plays, score, and get my teammates involved in the game,” he said. “As well as being a defender that can guard multiple positions. I always put [my] team first and I love to win.”
Dailey is the third transfer to join coach Mick Cronin and the Bruins this offseason. Former USC guard Kobe Johnson committed to the crosstown rival two weeks ago, while former Louisville guard Skyy Clark chose UCLA a day before Johnson.
“We are excited to be adding Skyy, Eric and Kobe to our program,” Cronin said in a statement. “We are familiar with all three of these young men, and they are going to be important players for our team. Our staff had recruited Skyy when he was in high school, and we know he’s a dynamic guard who can score and distribute the ball. Eric is a big guard, built in the Jaime Jaquez Jr. mold. He can rebound like a big, but he is a young man with guard skills in a big, strong body. Kobe has made really strong strides in each of his three years in college, showing that he can be an impact player. He is a smart and tenacious athlete, especially on the defensive end, but he also provides versatility as a scorer and distributor. We will lean on the experience of all three players, and we are looking forward to getting them on campus.”
