INDIANAPOLIS — Derek Dixon, a four-star in the class of 2025, received an offer from Hubert Davis and North Carolina on Monday following a big weekend at the third EYBL session in Indianapolis.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has propelled Team Takeover to a 9-0 start this EYBL session, averaging 16 points, 1.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds.

“Playing for a storied program like UNC would be great,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “They play in a great conference and are historically one of the best teams in the country year after year, so being recruited by a school like that is awesome.”

With college coaches in attendance for the first time this summer, the Gonzaga High (D.C.) product is trying to keep a level head through it all.

“It’s great seeing all the different schools and all the different coaches,” he said. “Our coaches really just stressed, ‘The coaches have been watching online; the only difference now is that they’re here in person, so just play your same game, and they keep winning.'”

Dixon recently took visits to Pittsburgh and Virginia, two schools he’s held offers from since last summer.

Pitt: “Pitt was good. I’ve got a great relationship with that coaching staff, and it was good to see campus on an official, go around on tour and hang out with the guys [team] a little bit.”

Virginia: “UVA was great. Seeing Tony Bennett, and I have a great relationship with coach Jason Williford, and just being around there was a good time.”

Dixon is a 6-foot-5 combo guard who has an exceptional feel for the game. He gets to his spots really well and is comfortable shooting over smaller guards. He showed an improved three-point shot this weekend and great basketball IQ. He always seems to be involved down the stretch of games, something he showed during HoopHall with Gonzaga and this past weekend with Takeover.

Dixon previously broke down more options to ZAGSBLOG.
