INDIANAPOLIS — Four-star guard Davion Hannah can hit tough shots, and he hit probably the biggest shot of the entire Nike EYBL Session 3 in front of several college coaches.
With the score tied at 64-64, Team Herro was gifted a final shot attempt because an Expressions Elite player rebounded the ball, thought he called time out, and then let the ball go.
It rolled out of bounds, and the timeout was not granted. So, Hannah, the 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Milwaukee (WI) was given an opportunity to what he does best: rise up and hit a big time shot.
Hannah hit this shot while being guarded by five-star Dwayne Aristode, who’s regarded as one of the top defenders in the 2025 class. For the tournament, Hannah averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Hannah can score, but that’s not all he’s about. “Yeah, I can score the ball, but I can also set up players,” Hannah said. “I’ll do anything to win. So if I have to go guard the best player, I’ll pick him up full court. If I have to do all the dirty work, I’ll do all the dirty work. If they need me to score the ball, I’ll score the ball. I’m just a guy that plays my role and loves to win. Winning is the most important thing and that’s what I love to do.” Hannah added four offensive rebounds and three steals during the Nike EYBL session, showing off his hustle. And although he didn’t shoot it well over the weekend (just 5-of-20 from deep), he hit the biggest shot when his team needed it most. Hannah led Team Herro to a 2-2 record in four games with wins over Expressions Elite and Team United and losses to Team Thad and Team Takeover. During the tournament, Hannah broke down the latest on his recruitment with ZAGSBLOG.com, naming Wisconsin, Michigan State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Xavier, Cincinnati, DePaul and USC as the schools recruiting him hardest. Here’s his breakdown of each program: Wisconsin: “Hometown school. I talk to them a lot. They always tell me how much they want me and stuff and how much they can see me in their program, how they’ll play me and stuff. Every time I talk to them it’s good vibes, it’s always a welcoming feeling.” Michigan State: “I love Michigan State. Coach [Tom] Izzo, he’s a real guy at heart. A real genuine person. They treat me like family even though I’m not from Michigan state. They treat me like a priority which I love.” Arkansas: “I haven’t been talking to them as much. But I talked to them. They said they were coming to see me play. I talked to them when they were at Kentucky, but they ended up leaving Kentucky. I’ve talked to Chin [Coleman] one of the assistant coaches.” John Calipari hasn’t reached out he said. Kentucky: [Mark Pope] was looking at me at BYU too. He got the Kentucky job and he knows a couple people from Wisconsin people I was talking to and was bringing them up and stuff to me. But I’m looking forward to building a relationship with both coaches and stuff.” Xavier: “They just reached back out to me. Same thing with them, I just have to build a stronger relationship.” Cincinnati: “I’ve been talking to them a lot. One of the Cincinnati coaches actually coached my brother at Bradley. So I’ve been knowing him for a little while. He’s a good guy. I went on a visit there and the atmosphere was crazy. It was a different feeling.” Hannah hasn’t heard from DePaul or USC since the staff changes. He said USC should be reaching out to him soon, but nothing yet. Calipari was court side on Sunday to see Hannah’s shot. Izzo was also there to see Hannah over the weekend, as well as Pope and Xavier head coach Sean Miller. Wisconsin and Cincinnati also had representation. Hannah is in the process of planning schools and dates for visits in June. He would like to visit schools before Peach Jam. The guard describes himself as a two way player and likes to play with a competitive edge. “I’m one of those guys that like to talk a little bit, and I love it when people talk stuff to me,” Hannah said. “That gives me more energy.” When asked what he usually says, Hannah said “Y’all can’t f*** with me.” “I’m a person that likes to have fun,” Hannah said. “I’m always in a good mood and I just like to vibe really. I’m a fun guy to be around.” Hannah embodies this on the court. The guard is ranked the No. 19 overall prospect in the class of 2025 per 247Sports. Davion’s brother, Darius Hannah, will be playing a fifth year senior season at Bradley in 2024-25.
