Top-60 class of 2025 prospect Dorian Jones has aspirations at the next level that extend beyond the basketball court. The 6-foot-4, 160-pound guard from Richmond Heights (OH) and the All Ohio-Red Nike EYBL AAU program, will be choosing a school based off some interesting factors.
“I’m really looking into their majors because I want to major in business,” Jones told ZAGSBLOG. “If that major is good, one of the top majors in business, I will want to go there. Because it’s really education.”
Specifically when it comes to the business field, Jones plans to launch his own clothing brand.
“For real, I haven’t really thought too much about it,” Jones said. “But I know I want to be an entrepreneur and make my own clothing brand. It’s something I always wanted to do as a kid because I was always into graphic design, things of that nature.”
Jones would like to get into the market of T-Shirts, jackets, pants and shoes.
“Pretty much everything,” Jones said.
As for his recruitment, Jones is down to four final options: Ohio State, Michigan, Rutgers and Missouri. Jones will also commit on July 1, he told ZAGSBLOG.
Jones had an official visit scheduled to Michigan on June 4, but that was cancelled and will be rescheduled sometime this summer. Jones isn’t sure exactly when.
With that, here is what Jones had to say about some of the programs recruiting him:
Missouri: “Coach [Dennis] Gates is a really cool guy. Real laid back and chill. Great coach. And he’s pretty good with relationships as well. He’s built a good relationship with me and my family.”
Ohio State: “[Jake] Diebler. He was recruiting me before he got the head coaching job. So I really be talking a bunch to Diebler. That’s my guy.”
Rutgers: “Coach Smoke [Marlon Williamson]. That’s my guy as well. Me and coach Smoke are close. He’s actually been watching me since like my sophomore year.”
Jones said the coach he’s closest with is Diebler. He also said that Marcus Johnson, a five-star point guard in the 2026 class committed to the Buckeyes, has been recruiting him to team up at Ohio State.
“We’ve been playing basketball together for a couple years,” Jones said of Johnson. “I played against him in middle school and we’ve played against each other in high school. So that’s pretty much how I got close with him. He’s a smooth player. He can score the ball at pretty much all three positions.”
Jones is ranked the No. 60 overall prospect in the 2025 class per 247Sports and the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio.
“I’m a great defensive player,” Jones said of his game. “Defense first. Always. But I can shoot very well. I can talk. I’m a great leader on and off the court. And I also can get my teammates in the right spots with the ball. I’m a point guard, you know what I’m saying?”
Jones favorite NBA player is Kevin Durant. His favorite musical artist is Drake and his favorite movie is Twilight.
