Class of 2025 four-star guard Jamarion Batemon is heading to Iowa State, he announced live to 247Sports on Monday.
Batemon — the 6-foot-3, 170-pound guard from Milwaukee Academy Of Science and the Power 5 Adidas 3SSB AAU program — chose the Cyclones over his other finalists Clemson, Marquette and West Virginia.
“They just showed consistency and they were one of the first schools to reach out to me,” Batemon said to 247Sports. “Despite other schools coming in and giving it their best shot, they just stayed with it. They showed up. Overall I just feel like they’re the best place to be. They play to my to my competitive nature and I feel like it’s just the best environment to make sure I’m successful in the future.”
Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger now has three commits in the 2025 class in Batemon, four-star forward Xzavion Mitchell and three-star point guard Macari Moore.
“I just want to win,” Batemon said. “Obviously I can score the ball. But I want to do the little things. I want to defend, dive on the floor, rebound the ball. Just do whatever I can to help the team win.”
Before Batemon’s commitment, Iowa State’s recruiting class sat at No. 5 nationally on 247Sports. This may move them into the top three for the time being. It’s still very early in the 2025 recruiting process to really focus on top-class rankings, but the Cyclones are off to a great start.
Batemon is ranked the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports. During his last 3SSB session, the guard averaged 21.8 points per game while shooting 43.7% from the field. His best game came against D1 Minnesota, where he dropped 32 points in a 99-91 loss.
