West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries has been on a recruiting roll lately, landing his second commitment in just five days. Four-star guard Kelvin Odih announced his pledge to the Mountaineers on Wednesday, joining top-ranked in-state prospect Braydon Hawthorne in West Virginia’s 2025 class.
Odih — the 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from SoCal Academy and the Rhode Island Elite PUMA AAU program — made his announcement live to 247Sports.
“I’m big on family, that’s one thing I’m big on is loyalty,” Odih said. “My lead recruiter Tom Ostrom, he showed that I was very important to their coaching staff. I was important to the program. He came to my house many times, came to my new school out in LA. So little things like that matter and that played a big role on why I chose [West Virginia].”
Odih is ranked the No. 56 overall player in the 2025 class by the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s West Virginia’s highest ranked recruit since Oscar Tshiebwe, the No. 23 overall prospect in 2019. West Virginia has not landed a four-star recruit since Isaiah Cottrell in 2020.
“They are getting a winner, a competitor, a dog, someone that’s winning to do whatever it takes to win,” Odih said of his message to Mountaineer fans. “I’m coming there to help turn the program back around to where it used to be.”
This is a big get for DeVries, who was hired in March of 2024.
