Ben Ahmed, the No. 78 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has committed to Miami. He made the announcement live to 247Sports.
Ahmed — the 6-foot-9, 300-pound big man out of Putnam Science Academy (CT) and the New England Basketball Club — chose Miami over Cincinnati and Xavier. Ahmed is from Nigeria and was originally a member of the 2026 class before reclassifying in August.
“I have a great relationship with the head coach [Jim] Larranaga, coach Bill [Courtney], the whole coaching staff” Ahmed said of his decision. “Even the players, it just felt like I can be there for like a year or two. I just enjoyed that visit.”
Miami hosted Ahmed this past weekend. The big man joins one other prospect in the Hurricanes 2025 class: guard Matthew Able. With two players committed, Jim Larranaga is still looking to add the Boozer twins tomorrow. If that happens, Miami will likely have the No. 1 overall class.
What are Miami fans getting in Ahmed?
“A player that can score in the post,” Ahmed said. “A post player and a great rebounder. And a great teammate too. I’m always trying to bring positive energy during the practice and during the games too.”
