One ACC media member voted for Cal freshman guard Jeremiah Wilkinson over Duke’s Cooper Flagg for ACC Preseason Rookie of the Year.

In the poll released Tuesday, the 6-foot-9 Flagg received 53 votes of 54 votes with Wilkinson getting the other. We’ll probably never know which media member it was since the votes are anonymous, but that person was either trying to make some kind of statement or has little to no idea about college basketball.

Flagg, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, was also voted to the All-ACC First Team along with Preseason Player of the Year RJ Davis (North Carolina), Hunter Sallis (Wake Forest), Markus Burton (Notre Dame) and Nijel Pack (Miami).

Duke, Flagg’s team, was picked first in the 18-team ACC, while Cal was picked 16th.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Wilkinson was a three-star guard coming out of McEachern (Ga.) and picked Cal over Mississippi State, Mississippi and Florida. He also held offers from Butler, Saint Louis and Tulsa .

Flagg was a five-star prospect and the No. 1-rated player in the Class of 2024 who chose Duke over UConn and Kansas.

Former Celtics great Kevin Garnett referred to Flagg as a “bad–s, cold a– white boy” in an episode of the “Ticket & The Truth” podcast hosted by Garnett and Paul Pierce.

Several NBA teams, including the Nets, are expected to “Waive the White Flag for Cooper Flagg” and tank during this upcoming season.
