Jake Diebler and Ohio State have landed four-star power forward Amare Bynum, he announced via Instagram on Tuesday.

Bynum — the 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from Link Academy and the Mokan Elite Nike EYBL AAU program — chose Ohio State over Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska and Xavier.

This past summer playing for Mokan, Bynum averaged 11.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 20.2 minutes per contest. He also shot 44.1% from the field and 15-of-44 (34.1%) from 3-point range across 15 regular season games.

“I bring it all,” Bynum previously said of his game. “If you need me to play defense, I’ll play defense on every position. I’ll talk. I’ll just bring it all for the team.”

The Omaha native becomes Ohio State’s second commit in the 2025 class, joining four-star guard Dorian Jones.

“Amare is just touching the surface of how good he can be,” Link Academy head coach Chad Myers told ZAGSBLOG. “I think he is one of the best two way forwards in the country. He can stretch the defense by stepping out on the perimeter as well as taking advantages of mismatches inside. He has shown he can guard multiple positions and be an elite switch defender.”

Bynum is ranked the No. 99 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports. Bynum’s father, Omar Bynum, played at Iowa State. Bynum’s older brother, Jadin Johnson, will play this season at Northwest Missouri State, a Division II program.
