Seton Hall junior guard Keon Lawrence will be reinstated in time for the team’s Nov. 28 home game against LIU , according to multiple sources close to the situation.
“There’s a good chance he could be reinstated by the LIU game,” said one source close to the program.
After suffering facial cuts and other minor injuries during his car accident Nov. 9, Lawrence was medically cleared to work out individually but hasn’t yet been officially reinstated to the program.
The 6-foot-2, 177-pound Lawrence was suspended indefinitely after he was arrested Nov. 9 for driving the wrong way on the Garden State Parkway and causing a two-car accident. He was charged with DWI and driving with a suspended license and then released on his own recognizance.
Blood tests were conducted at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and sources said the results showed Lawrence was below the legal limit of .08. Sources said a second set of tests conducted by the New Jersey State Police also came back below the limit.
Lawrence transferred from Missouri and sat out last season as per NCAA regulations.
He was one of three transfers expected to make an impact this season for the Pirates, including Herb Pope and Jeff Robinson, who becomes eligible Dec. 19.
Lawrence sat on the bench for Seton Hall’s first three games. After wearing street clothes the first two games, he was dressed in warmups and sitting with the rest of his teammates as the Pirates beat Cornell, 89-79, Friday night in Ithaca, N.Y.
