Arizona and West Virginia are both making a late push at 2010 shooting guard Doron Lamb.
The 6-foot-4 Lamb, a Queens, N.Y., native playing at Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, will likely visit Arizona in early January, either Jan. 7-9 or 8-10.
“Probably, I don’t know the date yet,” Lamb said by phone from Paducah, Ky. where Oak Hill (7-0) is at the Marshall County Hoopfest for Saturday’s game with Jackson (Miss.) Calloway.
Lamb, the No. 3 shooting guard in the Class of 2010, said he had watched Arizona play recently in the Maui Invitational.
“I watched Arizona play in Hawaii but I don’t know,” he said.
Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said West Virginia was also making a late push for Lamb.
“West Virginia is trying to get a visit also,” Smith said.
Lamb said West Virginia assistant Larry Harrison came to Oak Hill last week to meet with him and that Mounties head coach Bob Huggins would come next week.
“West Virginia, they need a combo guard,” Lamb said. “[Harrison said] a lot of people are leaving for that spot. He said I could come in and fit in the system and play right away.”
Lamb said he had watched West Virginia recently on TV. The Mountaineers won the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif., over the holiday weekend.
“I watched them,” Lamb said. “They’re good. I like their system, the motion offense.”
Lamb has already visited Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma and UConn and opted not to sign last month during the early signing period.
He and 6-9 teammate Roscoe Smith will both sign in the spring. Smith is considering Duke, Georgetown and UConn.

Meantime, Arizona assistant Book Richardson is in Baltimore this weekend to watch Lake Baltimore (Md.) guard Josh Selby in his season opener.
He will take a visit to Arizona Jan. 9-10.
Selby initially committed to Tennessee and then de-committed. He recently cut his list to Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana and Syracuse.
“Josh has everything you look for in an elite talent,” Jerry Meyer of Rivals.com, who ranks Selby fourth in the country overall and the No. 2 point guard, told the Baltimore Sun. “It’s really a combination of three things: athleticism, high skills and competitiveness. He has all those characteristics. There’s no telling how good he can be. He has a chance to be a one-and-done college player, an All-American type who can be a longtime pro that goes on to play in [ NBA] All-Star games.”
