Zion Williamson, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Spartanburg (S.C.) Day High School, has been piling up the high-major offers in recent days.
He has added offers from LSU, Mississippi State, UConn, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Mississippi State, Miami, Virginia and Texas A&M in the last two days. Ryan Falker, Williamson’s coach with the adidas-sponsored Game Elite 17U, said Kentucky associate head coach Kenny Payne has also reached out.
“My phone’s been blowing up, doing back flips and falling off the counter because it’s buzzing so much,” Falker said Monday night by phone.
“I think he’s your classic inside-out player. Wherever you put him on the court, he’s going to be a high-level player. I think it boils down to his IQ is extremely high. And that’s reallys surprisng for a 15-year-old kid. He makes the right basketbal plays when he has the ball.”
Williamson is averaging 23.2 points and 12.2 rebounds on the adidas circuit.
“The coaches usually say they like how versatile of a player I am,” Williamson told InsideCarolina. “I model my game after LeBron James. I’m about the same height as him. I like how he can handle the ball. When has someone smaller he can post them up. When he has someone bigger, he can drive by them and attack.”
