  • Hamidou Diallo Talks Syracuse Visit

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Hamidou Diallo enjoyed his weekend unofficial visit to Syracuse with his fellow Class of 2017 targets.

“They Syracuse visit was great,” the 6-foot-6 Diallo told SNY.tv. “I went along with [NY Rens] teammate Jordan Tucker and Quade Green [of the PSA Cardinals].”

Along with the three 2017 targets, Class of 2016 forward Taurean Thompson visited, as did Colorado State transfer John Gillon, who committed to the Orange.

“The pitch was how much freedom Coach [Jim Boeheim] gives the guards and he wants me to come and take on that two-guard spot,” said Diallo, a rising senior at Putnam Science (CT) Academy. “The main pitch was how much freedom I would have on the court as a freshman I was attend Syracuse.”

Boeheim and assistant Gerry McNamara watched Diallo, Tucker and Green at the recent Nike EYBL stop in Brooklyn and are prioritizing all three.

Following that event, Kentucky head coach John Calipari visited Diallo at school and offered him a scholarship, and then Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski also offered.

UConn, St. John’s, Kansas, Arizona and many other schools are also targeting Diallo.

“He can play anywhere and he can play for anyone,” NY Rens coach Andy Borman said on The 4 Quarters Podcast.

“His upside’s through the roof,” Borman told SNY.tv.  “He’s the most athletic naturally gifted player in the country and maybe not even for his class, maybe just hands down. The kid is 6-6, can do everything and does everything willingly. Plays defense, blocks shots, hustle plays, but the most impressive thing that I’ve seen is his basketball IQ is through the roof. It’s not like he’s just a gifted kid but he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Everything he does has a reason.”
