St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley says Indiana is now in the picture with Dominic Cheek because of the hiring of former Friars star Roshown McLeod, the older brother of current St. Anthony guard Devon McLeod.

“Indiana might move into the group now because of Roshown McLeod working there at Indiana,” Hurley said. “He knows Dominic real well. They might potentially get a visit.”

He added that McLeod’s hiring at Indiana will help that school recruit at St. Anthony.

“It  will with our school because he’s a kid that’s a very personable kid and was a real success and the kids all know who he was,” Hurley said.

Cheek, the No. 6 shooting guard in the Class of 2009 and No. 16 player overall according to Rivals, previously told me that Indiana would definitely get a visit, along with Memphis.

“I’m definitely going to visit Indiana,” the 6-foot-5 Cheek said. “I’m definitely going to try to really look into that school and see how everything is.”

Hurley said college coaches would begin to come to St. Anthony in the “beginning of September to talk a little bit further and then narrow it down.”

He mentioned Kansas, Villanova and Wake Forest in that group. Cheek has also mentioned UConn, Seton Hall, Rutgers and Tennessee.

“That’s probably the list I’m planning on cutting down soon,” Cheek said.

Hurley reiterated that Cheek and Devon McLeod were close friends.

“In the past they have gone to visit Roshown down in Atlanta,” Hurley said. “Dom knows him very well.

“And Tom Crean’s a good coach. The one concern is what sanctions are they (Indiana) looking at.” Indiana faces sanctions as a result of NCAA recruiting violations committed by former coach Kelvin Sampson.

Hurley said college coaches would come in for a series of school and home visits “to try to build up a comfort level.”

“Closer to the beginning of the college basketball season, we’ll start setting home visits,” he said.
