In this interview with BoxofMess.com from the McDonald’s All-American Game, Josh Selby says he’s considering five schools, Kansas, Kentucky, Arizona, UConn and Tennessee. “Right now, no one’s leading,” he said. The 6-foot-3 Selby, out of Baltimore (Md.) Lake Clifton, will announce at the Jordan Brand Classic April 17. “Yes, that’s correct. April 17. I will make a commitment at halftime,” he said. Selby also said he wasn’t waiting for Brandon Knight to make his decision. Knight, out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest, is considering Kentucky, Kansas, Florida, UConn and Syracuse, but most observers expect him to pick Kentucky. “That’s not true at all. [Knight’s choice] is not going to stop me. If we go to the same school, we’ll just have to fight for playing time,” Selby said, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Selby said he was “impressed” by how Kentucky freshman guards John Wall and Eric Bledsoe sacrificed for the better of the team, which lost to West Virginia in the Elite Eight in Syracuse.
“They sacrificed for the strength of the team and both got national recognition,” Selby said, according to the Herald-Leader. “I was very impressed.
Oak Hill (Va.) guard Doron Lamb will also announce April 17. Lamb is considering Kansas, Kentucky, West Virginia, Arizona and UConn.
His father, Calvin, said it not true that Doron had cut Arizona from his list.
“No,” Calvin wrote by text when asked if it was accurate.
Asked if they would commit to the same school, Selby told BoxofMess.com: “We talked about it, but I really don’t know. We said we were going to sit down and talk.”
**Elsewhere in the recruiting world, 2011 guard Austin Rivers has added North Carolina to his list of schools. Rivers initially committed to Florida and then opened it up to include Duke.
