Cleveland Melvin, a 6-foot-7 wing forward from Fitchburg (Mass.) Notre Dame Prep, is considering three schools, including two in the Big East.

“Marshall, DePaul and Seton Hall are the most heavily involved right now,” Notre Dame coach Ryan Hurd said.

The former UConn commit is currently visiting Marshall and hopes to visit Seton Hall this week.

“He’s enjoying his time at Marshall right now. The Seton Hall visit is still being worked out,” Hurd said.

Notre Dame Prep was on break this week and Seton Hall is still trying to get ahold of Melvin’s transcript.

“We’re to get that stuff first thing Monday,” Hurd said.

If that works out, Melvin could visit Seton Hall Thursday or Friday.

Seton Hall has just one signed commitment from Paterson Catholic senior wing Fuquan Edwin. Forwards Jamir Hanner and Eugene McCrory committed to former coach Bobby Gonzalez and new head coach Kevin Willard is still evaluating those prospects.

As for DePaul, Melvin visited in the fall when Jerry Wainwright was coach. The school’s new coach, Oliver Purnell, is also interested.

“Purnell came up to visit last week. He’s trying to get his feet underneath him,” Hurd said.

The Notre Dame coach said Melvin could help a team out offensively going forward.

“I think he’s going to be a fantastic player,” Hurd said. “He’s got all kinds of potential. He’s willing to work hard. He can put up some pretty big numbers. He will be much better in a transition-type offense than a halfcourt-type offense.”

    LESLIE ENJOYING UCONN VISIT

Speaking of UConn, 6-8 Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God forward C.J. Leslie appears to be enjoying his official visit to Storrs this weekend.

“Have hella fun at uconn,” he wrote on his Twitter.

Leslie is considering UConn, Kentucky and N.C. State.
