Twins David and Travis Wear will leave North Carolina after their freshman seasons, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported.

Dave Wear, the boys’ father, told the newspaper he hoped the 6-foot-10 brothers would be released from the scholarship agreements “as early as Thursday” and added that “they decided they didn’t want to return to North Carolina.”

“When they return home [to Huntington Beach] we will sit down as a family and review their basketball and academic options,” the father told the paper.

The brothers also considered UCLA and Arizona coming out of national power Mater Dei High School.

Travis Wear averaged 10.3 minutes, 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, while David
averaged 10.5 minutes, 2.9 points and 1.7 rebounds. David missed the final five games of the season with hip surgery.
