Malick Kone, a 6-foot-6, 194-pound senior shooting guard from St. George (Va.) Blue Ridge and DC Assault, likes Rutgers and could commit on his upcoming official visit.
Kone, who took an unofficial last weekend with DC Assault teammate Jerome Seagears, will visit Rutgers Sept. 10/11 officially.
“Yes, I think I will commit with Rutgers,” Kone said by text. “It’s a matter of time. By September if nothing changes it will be official.”
“[I like the] coach,” Kone added of Mike Rice. “He is so intense and knows the game. I like his passion. The most important thing for me is the challenge. I think I will have the opportunity to play as a freshman.”
Kone also has interest from Virginia, East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Jacksonville and Marshall.
“He’s a jump shooter who can defend multiple positions and a very good rebounder,” DC Assault director DamonĀ Handon said. “He’s a great kid.”
