Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez and assistant Derm Player had an in-home visit Wednesday night with James Padgett and his parents.
“It was alright,” the 6-foot-7, 210-pound Padgett said tonight by phone. “It was informative.”
Gonzalez and Player visited Padgett during the afternoon at Brooklyn Lincoln, also the home of star senior guard Lance Stephenson, who is expected to attend St. John’s Thursday for the 2008 Red Storm Tip-Off.
Asked if he planned to take an official visit to Seton Hall, Padgett said: “I don’t know. (Coach Gonzalez) talked about me doing it.”
And what does Seton Hall like about Padgett?
“I’m different than the bigs that they have right now,” Padgett said.
Padgett has taken only one official visit, to Maryland, which he described as “fair.”
Padgett said he was uncertain what schools he is certainly considering, but said Maryland, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Providence were in the mix.
“I’m not even sure, really,” he said. “(There are) a lot all coming at one time.”
Asked if Pittsburgh was still in the mix in the wake of its recent recruitment of a power forward J.J Richardson, he said, “Not so much.”
Seton Hall has a big weekend ahead, with 6-11 center Jarrid Famous of Westchester Community College and his father coming info for an official visit to campus.
