Thomas Robinson’s mother is getting some high-powered visitors this week in Washington, D.C.
Lisa Robinson, the mother of the 6-foot-8 senior from Brewster (N.H.) Academy ranked No. 7 among power forwards in the Class of 2009, played host Monday night to Memphis head coach John Calipari and assistant Orlando Antigua.
Kansas coach Bill Self will visit with the mother Wednesday morning, before heading to Brewster to watch Thomas work out.
“I know that Coach Calipari and Orlando Antigua had a home visit with Thomas’ mom last night,” Brewster head coach Jason Smith said. “They went to Washington, D.C. to speak with Thomas’ mom.
“I think that Coach Self is going for a home visit Wednesday and then flying here to watch our workout tomorrow night.”
Robinson took an official visit to Kansas recently and leaves Friday for Memphis. He will then visit USC Oct. 14.
“I’m sure he’ll come back after the visit to Memphis to kind of compare (it with Kansas),” Smith said. “A lot of time when kids take official visits, they have nothing to compare it to.
“It’s a good opportunity to visit Memphis so he has something to compare Kansas to. He will probably sit down next week with his mom to discuss the visits.”
Smith also mentioned that Rutgers head coach Fred Hill and Baylor head coach Scott Drew would visit Brewster Wednesday to see Givon Crump work out.
Crump, 6-foot-6, 210-pound small forward ranked No. 26 among small forwards in the Class of 2009, has shuffled his visits a bit.
After visiting Oregon State (9/13), he will head to Baylor (10/4) and Rutgers (10/14).
