Entering his senior season at Seton Hall, Jeremy Hazell wanted almost nothing more than to break Terry Dehere’s all-time school scoring record.
The 6-foot-5 Hazell needed 706 points to break Dehere’s mark of 2,494 points set from 1989-93. Considering the sharp-shooting Hazell scored 726 points during the 2008-9 season and 654 last year, he appeared to have an excellent opportunity to set a new mark.
“Oh man, it would mean a lot,” Hazell said Friday, one day before the Pirates (8-11, 2-5 Big East) were set to host Rutgers (11-7, 2-4) at The Prudential Center (noon, SNY).
