  • Hurley Stands On Brink of 1,000 Victories

    NEW YORK — Before he introduced Bob Hurley at the Naismith Hall of Fame last April, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski had a private message for his old friend.

    “Of all the people going in today, you are the most deserving,” Coach K told Hurley on a day when Jerry Buss, Cynthia Cooper, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen and the 1960 USA Men’s Olympic team and the 1992 “Dream Team” were also inducted. “All of these people are deserving, but you are the most.

    “It’s not about being a high school coach, it’s about being a great coach. And that’s what you are.”
