Ricky Ledo is down to five schools.
The 6-foot-7 small forward from Notre Dame Prep told SNY.tv he will consider Providence, UConn, Syracuse, Kentucky and West Virginia.
No official visits are set, but Ledo did just trip to Syracuse last weekend for their Elite Camp.
Ledo said he is particularly close with incoming Syracuse shooting guard Michael Carter-Williams.
“Mike Carter is like my brother,” Ledo said in a recent interview. “He’s like my brother. He’s like a real close friend. I’m gonna go up there and visit Syracuse because I know he’s up there.”
Ledo also has close ties to the defending national champs.
“I know Tyler Olander at UConn, and Shabazz Napier and Alex [Oriakhi] from AAU,” Ledo said. “We’re pretty close friends. We joke around a lot with each other. I’m gonna go see UConn with them.”
Ledo doesn’t have any close friends at Kentucky, but also plans a visit there.
“I have no people I know there but I plan on visiting Kentucky,” Ledo said. “But I don’t know when.”
A Providence native and onetime Providence commit, Ledo also plans to see the Friars under new coach Ed Cooley.
“Providence is right in the backyard of my house,” he said. “I’m going to obviously see them a lot.”
In other good news for Cooley’s staff, 2012 point guard Kris Dunn told Dave Telep of ESPN.com that he is down to UConn and Providence and will decide this week.
A source with knowledge told SNY.tv that Jim Calhoun and UConn have not been in touch recently with Dunn, leaving Providence as the likely destination.
ELLIS SETS HOME VISITS
Perry Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Wichita Heights (Kansas), set his home visits. According to the Wichita Eagle, he will meet with Kansas coaches on Sept. 9, followed by Kansas State on Sept. 12 and Wichita State on Sept. 13.
The family has yet to finalize a date with Kentucky, which will likely be the last visit.
