  • Plenty of People Signing Late

While the early signing period began Wednesday without much fanfare — other than Ricardo Gathers’ decommitment Tuesday night from St. John’s — there will also be a bunch of players waiting until the spring to sign.

**Among the big-name players in that category are Gathers, Shabazz Muhammad, Anthony Bennett, Tony Parker, Devonta Pollard, Chris Obekpa and Winston Shepard.

**Onetime Villanova commit Savon Goodman (pictured) and his Philly Constitution teammate Daiquan Walker will both wait until at least the spring, according to Constitution coach Rob Moore.

“Neither one is close to signing,” he said by text. “Both will be signing late.”

He added, “Both will be qualified academically this year.”

Moore said both players were “focusing on the season at this point.”

Walker is visiting Penn State this weekend, which should be interesting, to say the least.

**Arlington (Fla.) Country Day has four players who won’t sign until the spring, including 6-10 Jordan Goodman, who has decommitted from Texas Tech, Rutgers and Georgetown, and  N.C. State decommit Torian Graham. Maryland, Baylor and Memphis are involved with Graham, and Maryland is also expected to be involved with Goodman.

Ian Baker, a 6-1 combo guard, and Carlos Morris, a 6-5 combo guard, of Arlington Country Day both committed to South Carolina but will also wait until April, per coach Rex Morgan.
