Apparently Toney Douglas and Mike Bibby weren’t enough at point guard after all.
Baron Davis has signed with the Knicks, his agent confirmed to SNY.tv.
“Yes, signed,” Todd Ramasar texted Monday to SNY.tv.
ESPN.com originally reported the news.
Davis was amnestied by the Cleveland Cavaliers and then passed through waivers. Ramasar previously told SNY.tv he would be sidelined 8-10 with herniated discs in his back, so it remains unclear when he can actually play. He will take his medical exam today.
Davis holds career averages of 16.5 points, 7.3 assists and 1.9 steals. Last year with the Los Angeles Clippers and Cavs, he averaged 13.1 points and 6.7 assists in 58 games.
Davis, who reportedly signed for the $1.4 million veteran’s minimum, liked the idea of playing in New York alongside Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler.
“Everybody knows what he can do when he’s healthy and when he’s focused,” Anthony said Sunday, according to CBSSports.com. “When BD is healthy, he’s one of the best.”
