Carmelo Anthony declared himself “pain free” during Monday’s shootaround and said he would play Monday night against the Charlotte Bobcats.
Anthony injured his back/hip during Friday’s victory over the Washington Wizards and then played only 31 minutes in the team’s blowout victory Saturday in Detroit. He managed just 13 points on 5-for-14 shooting.
Instead of heading to MetLife Stadium Sunday with several of his teammates to watch the Giants beat the Atlanta Falcons, 24-2, Anthony spent the day receiving treatment.
“I missed the football game,” Anthony told reporters. “I’m kinda mad about that. But my body is more important.”
The Knicks have won two straight entering Monday’s game and are hoping for revenge against a Bobcats team that embarrassed them, 118-110, last Wednesday at MSG.
