NEW YORK — Rick Pitino says he doesn’t know which Big East coach left Kevin Jones off the All-Big East First Team, but that someone may have just made an “oversight.”

“Some coaches have their assistants fill it out and it’s just an oversight and it’s not mean-spirited,” Pitino told SNY.tv at Madison Square Garden. “It’s just an oversight. IĀ don’t know who it was, obviously.

“It’s someone who maybe lost that recruiting battle.”

For the record, Jones picked West Virginia overĀ Indiana, Pittsburgh, UMass, Seton Hall, Rutgers and St. John’s out of Mount Vernon High School. Here’s the old-school ZAGS to prove it.

Sources close to Pitino said he voted for Jones for Player of the Year.
