NEW YORK — Nerlens Noel, the top uncommitted player in the Class of 2012, will visit Georgetown early next week and then North Carolina sometime later this month.
The 6-foot-10 Noel recently trimmed his list to Georgetown, North Carolina, Kentucky, Syracuse and UConn. He dropped Providence and Florida.
“He’s going down [to Georgetown] Sunday and he’ll go Sunday to Tuesday,” a source close to Noel told SNY.tv.
Noel confirmed by text that he is headed to Georgetown then.
The No. 5 Hoyas advanced to the Big East Tournament quarterfinals with Wednesday’s 64-52 win over Pittsburgh. They will face No. 4 Cincinnati on Thursday, with the winner of that game set to meet the winner between No. 1 Syracuse and No. 9 UConn in Friday’s semifinals.
The Big East championship game is Saturday night.
Noel said by text he will then trip to North Carolina, perhaps after the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. He could go sometime around March 19 or 20.
“We’re just trying to schedule it,” the source said.
Noel has already visited Syracuse and Kentucky.
No date for a UConn visit has been set. The Huskies are currently ineligible for the 2013 NCAA Tournament because of their sub-standard APR scores and that could play a role in Noel’s recruitment.
After beating West Virginia here Wednesday, the Huskies play in the Big East quarterfinals Thursday.
Noel has said he has no timetable for a decision.
He was recently to represent the United States World Junior Team in the 2012 Nike Hoop Summit April 7 in Portland, Ore.
