Bo Ryan finally gave in.
After he was massacred all day long in the national media — including for an extended period on “Mike & Mike In The Morning” — the Wisconsin coach agreed to lift all non-league transfer restrictions on freshman forward Jarrod Uthoff.
“Uthoff visited with both Associate Athletic Director Justin Doherty and Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez Thursday morning as part of the appeal process,” the school said in a statement.
“Doherty, Alvarez and head coach Bo Ryan then met and collectively came to a decision that the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department has lifted “permission to contact” restrictions on ANY school outside of the Big Ten Conference.”
Uthoff had previously been barred from contacting Iowa State, Marquette, Florida and every school in the ACC because Wisconsin could potentially meet them in the Big 10/ACC Challenge.
Wisconsin maintains that Uthoff requested permission to contact 16 schools, 4 of which were denied and that he appealed 3 of the 4.
