After initially cutting his list to Kentucky and North Carolina, 2013 wing Troy Williams has now expanded his list to six and the list could change again.
During an exclusive interview Thursday night with SNY.tv, the 6-foot-6 2013 wing said he’s now considering Louisville, Florida, South Carolina and Georgetown along with Kentucky and North Carolina.
“We’re looking at other options,” Boo Williams, Troy’s legendary uncle and AAU coach, told SNY.tv by phone. “We just want to make sure we get it right.”
As far as Louisville, Troy Williams said, ” Coach Rick Pitino is a really good coach. I get along with him well. They play uptempo and fast.”
On South Carolina and new coach Frank Martin, Williams said: “They play uptempo and fast and I get along with Coach Martin.”
On Florida, Williams said: “Talking with Coach [Billy] Donovan, we get along well. He told me what my weak areas were and I gotta work on them. He knows I can knock down a shot but I’m changing up my shots. I gotta shoot the same way every time.”
On Georgetown, “They have a real good coach [John Thompson III] and a real good system.”
The Rivals No. 4 small forward in the Class of 2013, Williams initially said on TWitter he would announce for Kentucky or North Carolina, but then delayed his decision.
He said he’s “still” considering Kentucky and North Carolina and is not sure when he will decide.
“They’re all still equal,” he said.
Williams will be busy in June trying out for the USA U18 team in Colorado Springs.
Tryouts run June 5-12 and Williams will join 2013 classmates Jabari Bird (Salesian H.S./Vallejo, Calif.); Nate Britt (Gonzaga H.S., D.C./Upper Marlboro, Md.); Aaron Harrison (Travis H.S./Richmond, Texas); Andrew Harrison (Travis H.S./Richmond, Texas); and Julius Randle (Prestonwood Christian Academy/ McKinney, Texas).
“The whole month of June I’ll be with USA Basketball,” Williams said.
