ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Kyle Washington has not one, but two decisions to make.
A 6-foot-9, 215-pound power forward from Champlin, Minn., Washington will choose a new high school this fall and also focus in on his upcoming college decision.
After spending last season at the Hotchkiss (Conn.) School, Washington will attend another prep school for 2012-13.
“I’m still trying to figure it out,” Washington said at the Nike Global Challenge. “I’m talking to places like South Kent and Hargrave…It will be a prep school.”
As far as colleges, Washington says he has “21 offers” and listed Baylor, Florida, Louisville, Xavier, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Marquette, Seton Hall, Memphis, Iowa and Iowa State among them.
“I’m not going to release my list yet,” he said. “I’m going to release my list at the end of the summer.”
He has already visited Marquette, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Xavier and Penn State and has several visits planned.
“I want to take a couple visits to Louisville, Baylor and Florida and I’m going to set up some more unofficials before I leave. I will try to get there in August with my family.”
Washington averaged 4.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in four games here with a USA East team that finished 2-2.
‘My game is versatile but it comes in flashes,” Washington said. “I’m trying to be consistent. I just have to keep on working the post.
“[Coaches] see me as a four, high-energy guy who does well on the defensive end but still has offensive skills.”
Washington plans to trim his list sometime in the fall.
“I’m going to try to narrow it down to about five so i can take my officials and be committed beofre my senior season so I can enjoy my teammates and enjoy the season because the recruiting thing is fine and everything but it gets a little hectic during the season. I want to concentrate on being the best I can be for my school.”
