Tyler Roberson, one of the top small forwards in the Class of 2013 out of Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG entering his senior season. Here’s his fifth entry:

In the month of July I was busy with AAU tournaments, camps and recruitment.

At the beginning of July I was invited to the Lebron James Skills Academy where there were a lot of talented players at the camp.  I was also invited to the Reebok Breakout Challenge and got a chance to play in the All-Star game which was fun.  There were also a lot of talented players at this camp as well.  I had fun at both camps and they were both good experiences.

My AAU team, the N.J. Roadrunners, recently participated in the Super Showcase and Nationals in Orlando, Fla.  We played well in both events and went far before being eliminated.  I had a good time with my team and family and enjoyed my time while in Florida.

A few days ago I shortened my list to ten schools: SMU, Kansas, Rutgers, Syracuse, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, Seton Hall, South Carolina and Villanova.

All of these schools have been recruiting me for a while except for Kentucky, which just began recruiting me recently.

I plan on taking official visits to Kansas, Syracuse and SMU. I am going to use the last two visits but I am not sure to which schools yet.  I also plan on taking some unofficial visits to some of the other schools on my list.  I will shorten my list to five schools sometime next month.

Here is a little of what I like about each school:

Alabama has been recruiting me really hard and has been very consistent while recruiting me.

Florida  is a good program that is always competing for SEC and national championships.

Kansas has a great history of basketball and is always competing for a national championship.

Kentucky gets the most out of their players and develops them well.

Rutgers has a great coaching staff that is taking the program to the next level.

Seton Hall is the closest to where I live and my family and friends would get to come and see me play.

SMU has a coach [Larry Brown] who has had success in college and the NBA.

South Carolina I like the feeling the program has and where it is headed.

Syracuse ,I think they fit my style of play.

Villanova, I like the offense and I think it fits my style of play.
