NEW YORK — Knicks coach Mike Woodson didn’t get his wish because Hurricane Sandy washed out practice on Monday.
“We probably need to get cotsand put them in in the practice facility because I still want to practice regardless of what the weather looks like,” Woodson said Sunday at the revamped Madison Square Garden.
Instead, the Knicks announced Monday morning that practice had been cancelled — meaning Woodson will have to wait at least one more day to see how injured bigs Tyson Chandler and Marcus Camby look as they recover from injuries.
“Everybody’s plans is to be up there at practice,” Chandler said Sunday. “But obviously weather can always throw twists in everything.”
Some of the Knicks live in Manhattan and some reside in the suburbs, closer to the team’s practice facility in Greenburgh, N.Y.
“Some of the guys that are out there, they’re closer to the facility where we practice,” Woodson said. “My concern is with guys that are in the city, making sure they give themselves enough time to get up to White Plains [Monday] to get to practice so hopefully it won’t be that bad.”
Carmelo Anthony joked that he wasn’t trying to mess around with Sandy.
“I don’t take nothing for granted, I’m scared of Sandy,” Anthony said. “Just the thought of New York having a hurricane, that don’t even sound right.
“Me personally, I’m not playing with this weather. I’m not one to play with Mother Nature and I’m scared of Sandy.”
