Kamall Richards to Visit Seton Hall, Then Likely Decide
Kamall Richards will visit Seton Hall the weekend of Nov. 9-11 and then potentially decide his college future.
The 6-foot-6 wing from South Kent (Conn.) said he is basically considering Seton Hall, St. Joe’s and Xavier at this point.
“That’s pretty much it,” Richards told SNY.tv Friday by phone. “Probably after this Seton Hall visit I’m go to really think about it.”
Richards, a Garden State native, said he was originally supposed to visit Seton Hall officially this weekend but it was postponed by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
“With the storm, they want me to do it next weekend,” he said.
Richards may stop in at St. Benedict’s prior to his visit to say hello to some of his old friends.
“That’s going to feel good,” he said. “I’m going to stop by Benedict’s to see some of my old teammates.”
The Seton Hall visit comes after back-to-back visits to Xavier and St. Joe’s of the A-10.
“This past weekend. I went to St. Joseph’s,” he said. “I liked it. It was cool. They got a real good team up there this year. Guys are cool.”
The weekend before he went to Xavier, where he knows fellow Jersey native Myles Davis, who must sit out this year before becoming eligible next season.
“That was real good,” Richards said. “That’s a great school.”
Richards said South Carolina, Miami and Providence have also been in the mix, but at this point he’s focusing on the aforementioned three.
Richards blew up this summer on the AAU circuit with strong play at the Reebok Breakout Challenge.
“Kamall has a chance to be really good,” South Kent coach Kelvin Jefferson previously told SNY.tv. “He shoots it better than I initially thought. He’s as tough as anybody I’ve coached. He’s just a competitor. He rebounds from the guard postion better than anybody I’ve ever had.
“With Kamall he needs to bring it every day and work hard. If he does that he’s got a chance to be really good.”
