  • Arizona head coach Sean Miller called Jahvon Quinerly after the Wildcats practiced on Sunday and offered him a scholarship.

The Wildcats are prioritizing Quinerly as the next point guard to come to Point Guard U.

Miller and assitant Book Richardson previously visited the 6-foot-1 Quinerly in September at Hudson Catholic.

“[Arizona] said they’re highly interested in me,” Quinerly said last month.” “They just asked me how I like the West Coast a little me and told me that they want me to be their next point guard. It made me want to work harder, and I’m just blessed.”

Rawle Alkins has never lacked for confidence.

The 6-foot-4 Brooklyn native has a New York cockiness and that was on display Friday night before Arizona’s Red-Blue Game.

Alkins asked head coach Sean Miller to hold a basketball over his head as a prop in the dunk contest. And yes, not only did Alkins avoid kicking his new coach in the head, but he went on to win with this performance. Alkins’ dunk also made No. 5 on the SportsCenter Top 10.

Following a home visit Wednesday with Arizona head coach Sean Miller and assistant Book Richardson, Nick Richards will take an official visit to the Pac-12 school the weekend of Oct. 7, sources said.

The Arizona visit will mark the second official for the St. Patrick’s (N.J.) big man after he takes his first to Kentucky this coming weekend.

“Yeah, Book keeps it real with me,” Richards, a native of Jamaica who has only been playing organized ball for about four years, told me last month of the Arizona assistant from New York. “He’s probably the only coach out of all of them that keeps it the most real with me.”

This figures to be another busy week for Nick Richards and his teammates at St. Patrick’s High School in New Jersey.

Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim is due in on Tuesday to see the 6-foot-11 Richards, while Arizona coach Sean Miller is expected Wednesday.

“I’m considering every school,” Richards told me last week, referring to a group that includes Kentucky, Indiana, UConn, Syracuse and Arizona.

On Friday, Richards is poised to take his first official visit to Kentucky. Wildcats coach John Calipari has met with Richards twice in the last two weeks, including a home visit with Richards’ family.
