  • David McCormack, the 6-foot-10 center from Oak Hill (VA) Academy and Team Loaded, committed to Kansas on Sunday evening.

McCormack also considered Xavier, Oklahoma State, and N.C. State. He visited Kansas unofficially and is slated to take an official to Kansas next weekend.

“He’s lost about 45 pounds,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith told The 4 Quarters Podcast recently. “He was about 295 last year, he’s 255 now. He’s got a great body now, that has helped him tremendously. He’s more mobile now, he plays above the rim instead of below the rim. His shot has improved to 17 feet. He’s inside presence on both sides of the floor. He’s going to be a really, really good college player. I gotta give him credit because he lost weight but he’s the guy who changed his diet and lost the weight and it’ changed him into a much better player.”

David McCormack, the 6-foot-9 center from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, will announce on Sunday at 6 p.m., Oak Hill coach Steve Smith told ZAGSBLOG.

The Team Loaded Twitter account said he will announce live on Wavy News 10.

McCormack is down to Kansas, Xavier, Oklahoma State, and N.C. State, Smith said. He has visited everywhere but Oklahoma State. He is slated to take an official to Kansas next weekend, but it remains unclear if that will still happen.

“I don’t know if he’ll go past September, he’s getting kind of antsy and I think he likes a couple schools,” Smith said recently on The 4 Quarters Podcast.

David McCormack, the 6-foot-9 center from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, may be closing in on a college decision.

After naming Kansas, Xavier, Oklahoma State, UCLA, NC State, and Duke as his final six schools, he has visited Kansas and Xavier unofficially and N.C. State officially so far.

“He had a great visit [to Kansas],” Oak Hill Academy coach Steve Smith said on The 4 Quarters Podcast. “He went unofficial to Kansas but he’s going to go back there officially. He visited N.C. State last weekend. He’s visiting Xavier, Kansas and he has visits supposedly for Duke and UCLA if gets that far. I don’t know if he’ll go past September, he’s getting kind of antsy and I think he likes a couple schools.

After taking an unofficial visit to Kansas on Tuesday, 2018 Oak Hill (VA) Academy big man David McCormack spoke with D1Vision on Wednesday about how it went.

“It’s a great environment. I really enjoyed myself there,” said McCormack. “They told me how they’re likely losing their top six guys. Billy [Preston] will be gone, Devonte [Graham] will be gone, so I’ll be able to play inside and out. They’ll be able to take advantage of what I can do.”

McCormack told D1Vision that he has not set up any official visits yet but he plans to take at least some of them, as he said, “I’m definitely going to be taking officials but I haven’t set any and I don’t know how many I’m going to take.”
