  • Kentucky “none-and-done” Hamidou Diallo had several NBA workouts this week, a league source told ZAGSBLOG.

The 6-foot-6 Diallo worked out for the Chicago Bulls on Monday and the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s scheduled workout with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets on Thursday are also slated to work out Villanova’s Josh Hart and Oregon’s Tyler Dorsey.

Diallo also worked out for the Boston Celtics before the NBA Combine, the source said. The Celtics pick at No. 1 and also have three second-round picks.

The Bulls pick at No. 16, the Bucks at 17 and the Nets have two picks in the 20s, No. 22 and 27.

Diallo, who had a 44 1/2-inch vertical leap at last week’s NBA Draft Combine but did not play 5-on-5, is currently projected at No. 35 by DraftExpress.com.

“I don’t think he helped or hurt himself,” DraftExpress.com analyst Jonathan Givony told the Herald-Leader. “There really wasn’t much to go on. So I don’t think it really affected anything either way.

CHICAGO — Hamidou Diallo isn’t sure if he’ll ever play with Mohamed Bamba in college, but he knows that if Bamba chooses Kentucky they will be a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end.

“I mean if Mohamed Bamba comes to Kentucky it’s going to be really scary for people to score,” Diallo said in response to my question here at the NBA Draft Combine.

“He’s definitely a great player, he’s another brother of mine”

Like Diallo, who is from Queens, N.Y., the 6-foot-11 Bamba is a native of the Big Apple, hailing from Harlem.

Diallo believes Bamba — who is also considering Duke, Michigan and Texas  and is projected as a top-5 pick in the 2018 Draft– could be a defensive “Twin Towers” along with 6-11 Long Island native Nick Richards of The Patrick School.

As expected, Hamidou Diallo plans to redshirt at Kentucky this semester and then go full bore for the 2017-18 season, something that his AAU coach thinks could become a trend going forward.

“It makes so much sense,” Andy Borman, Diallo’s coach with the NY Rens, told ZAGSBLOG on Saturday after his commitment. “Hamidou is going to get to lift with the college strength coach. He’s going to get to practice with college kids as opposed to high school. When the team goes on a road trip, he can stay home with a grad assistant and work out two hours a day.
“I could see it becoming more common. If I had a kid that graduated early, I can send him to college for a semester and could spend nine months getting ready. When everyone comes in June for summer school as freshmen, he’s already a sophomore.”

Kentucky’s fans and coaches aren’t the only ones excited about the impending arrival of Hamidou Diallo, who committed to the Wildcats on Saturday and is expected to redshirt this semester.

Most of his fellow Class of 2017 Kentucky commits are, too.

The 6-foot-6 Diallo played on the Nike EYBL circuit with the NY Rens and faced most of Kentucky’s incoming class there. He also won a gold medal on the USA U18 team alongside Kentucky commits Quade Green and P.J. Washington.

“He brings length, energy, and freakish athleticism,” said 6-foot-7 small forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who played for the Houston Hoops on the Nike circuit. “He also a great defender/rebounder and [he] plays hard.”
