TAMPA, Fla. — While Tampa Catholic’s game was postponed two minutes into the third quarter against Tampa Jesuit because of a slippery floor, it didn’t stop Kevin Knox from putting up 18 points in 17 minutes.

Right after the game was halted, Knox said that he was planning on heading to Tallahassee immediately for an official visit to see the Seminoles play Virginia Tech Saturday night.

“That’s the plan,” Knox said. “We are planning on leaving [Friday night], going back to the house to get my stuff then heading up there later tonight.”

As for what Knox expects from the visit, he said he’s not expecting it to be much different than any other visit he’s gone on.

“Just pretty much the same as the last visit I went on really,” Knox said, referring to his November official to Duke. “They’re going to take me around, go to the coach’s house. Say some things to try to convince me to go there. Every school does that, though. It’s going to be great, though, I’m going to the Virginia Tech game, so it’s going to be a great experience and a good game.”

Kentucky coach John Calipari and assistant Kenny Payne are the latest high-profile coaches to watch Kevin Knox.

The Kentucky coaches watched the 6-foot-8 Knox go for 22 points and five rebounds in a 77-60 loss to DeAndre Ayton and Hillcrest Prep (AZ) in the championship game of the John Wall Holiday Invitational on Friday night.

Ayton, the 7-1 Arizona signee, finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds en route to Most Valuable Player honors, while Knox, who was tasked with guarding Ayton, was named Most Outstanding Player.

“I think overall it was great for us to come up here and play against great talent,” Knox said, per USA Today. “I didn’t have my best game this game, but that’s something that I can work on. Hopefully we’ll all learn from this loss and go back to Tampa and win regionals and states.”

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Kevin Knox has quite a good problem on his hands. He also has plenty of time to solve it.

Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and Florida State each have scholarship offers on the table for Knox, who plans to make multiple visits, unofficial and official, to each one.

“I want to commit after the season,” said Knox, whose stock rose between his sophomore and junior seasons at Tampa Catholic High School, when he advanced from 49 players trying out to make the 16 and under national team. “I want to slow everything down and just take my time with it.

“Now that I’m down to four, I don’t get as many text messages and phone calls.”
