  • The Philadelphia 76ers summer league team will have a strong Kentucky flavor.

Former Wildcats Isaiah Briscoe, Aaron Harrison and Alex Poythress will play on the team, via sources and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Poythress joins 76ers Shawn Long and Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot on the team, via the Inquirer. Maryland’s Melo Trimble is also on the team.

The 6-foot-3 Briscoe and the 6-3 Trimble both went undrafted Thursday night.

Briscoe worked out for the Sixers and Knicks, among others, but an ankle injury sidelined him from five workouts leading up to the draft.

Maryland added Duke graduate transfer Sean Obi on Thursday.

A 6-foot-9, 255-pound native of Kaduna, Nigeria, Obi finished his career at Duke after transferring from Rice University following his freshman campaign in 2014. Obi, who is set to earn his degree in sociology with a minor in marketing from Duke in May, plans to enroll in graduate school at Maryland in June.

“We are excited to welcome Sean to Maryland,” Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said. “As a graduate transfer, he brings high character, experience and maturity to our team. Sean is a good rebounder and gives us another physical presence inside. He is also a very good student. Sean is healthy and ready to contribute.”

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Carsen Edwards made two free throws with 2.1 seconds left, and No. 23 Purdue rallied to beat No. 17 Maryland 73-72 on Saturday and knock the Terrapins out of first place in the Big Ten.

After Purdue took a timeout to set up a play, Edwards was fouled on a drive to the basket and calmly sank both shots. Maryland freshman Kevin Huerter then hit the rim on a jumper from the corner, leaving Purdue to celebrate its first road win over a ranked opponent since 2013.

The Terrapins (20-3, 8-2) didn’t make a basket over the final 7 1/2 minutes, scoring their final 14 points at the free throw line — including 11 by Melo Trimble, who missed a jumper before Edwards made his two free throws.
