  • Matt Coleman, the 6-foot-1, 174-pound point guard from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, could commit on Dec. 15th but might also announce Jan. 16th. Both games will be televised by the ESPN networks.

Oak Hill coach Steve Smith initially told ZAGSBLOG the “plan” was for Coleman to announce Dec. 15, but Coleman also mentioned the Jan. 16 date to Eric Bossi of Rivals.

Coleman is considering Duke, Texas and Stanford.

Oak Hill, ranked No. 2 by ESPN.com, plays No. 3 Sierra Canyon (CA) at 9 p.m. on Dec. 15 on ESPN or ESPN2. Oak Hill then faces Nathan Hale High School (WA) at 1 p.m. on Jan. 16.

The NCAA early signing period is in the books and there was a flurry of activity leading up to — and just after — the final day on Nov. 16.

Wendell Carter Jr. waited until a week after the early period to announce he had signed with Duke, announcing it on Wednesday via a James Bond-style video.

That followed a busy few days in which center Bourama Sidibe picked Syracuse, point guard Quade Green chose Kentucky and forward Billy Preston opted for Kansas.

Now as we look ahead to the spring signing period which runs April 12-May 17, here are five compelling questions on the recruiting front:

Matt Coleman, the 6-foot-1, 174-pound point guard from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, plans to commit sometime within the next month and then sign during the spring.

“I think that’s going to be the plan,” he said Friday by phone. “I could see a commitment coming within a month from now, but right now I just don’t have that feeling of where I want to go in my heart.”

Coleman is down to Duke, Texas and Stanford.

His most recent visit was to Texas at the end of October.

“Texas was real nice, I say they laid out the red carpet,” he said. “Just being there with my family and [head coach] Shaka [Smart] spending some time, I really enjoyed myself.”

Coleman visited along with 7-footer Mohamed Bamba of the Westtown (PA) School and the PSA Cardinals. Bamba is considering Texas along with Duke, Kentucky, Harvard and a few others, but also won’t sign until the spring.

Matt Coleman, the 6-foot-1, 174-pound point guard from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, met this week with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and is focusing on four schools.

Coleman has taken officials to Duke (Sept. 16) and Stanford (Sept. 30) and will next hit Texas the weekend of Oct. 28. His visit to Kansas for this coming weekend was postponed by a scrimmage, and he has no plans to make it up.

“It’s Stanford, Duke, Texas and Kansas,” Coleman said Thursday by phone of the schools on his list. “I will not be taking the Kansas visit this weekend. Time didn’t permit me to. I didn’t reschedule it yet.”

Coach K met with Coleman on Tuesday to show his level of interest.
