  • Jontay Porter, the 6-foot-9 rising senior power forward, committed to Missouri on Monday but it remains unclear if he will enroll in 2017 or ’18.

Porter had initially verbally pledged to Washington for the Class of 2018, but Lorenzo Romar was fired and he re-opened his recruitment.

“My family and I thought it would be in my best interest to re-evaluate where I’m going to go in light of coaching changes at UW,” Porter said after he reopened his recruitment.

Michael Porter Sr., Porter’s father, is an assistant on Cuonzo Martin’s staff at Missouri, while his older brother Michael Porter Jr., will be a freshman at Mizzou. (For more on this, read the FanRagSports.com column.)

Missouri announced the signing of forward Jeremiah Tilmon of East St. Louis, Ill.

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound big man averaged 15.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game. He previously committed to Illinois but then decommitted after the coaching change.

“It’s truly exciting to keep a young man like Jeremiah at home with Mizzou Basketball,” coach Cuonzo Martin said. “Jeremiah, as a player and person, possesses the type of skill and presence we’d like to become a staple of this program. We feel that he has the ability to become a game-changing presence on both ends of the floor. His parents, April and Jeremiah, Sr., raised a son who we feel can really flourish at the University of Missouri.”

NEW YORK — After earning MVP honors in the McDonald’s All-American Game and helping the U.S. to victory in the Nike Hoop Summit, Michael Porter Jr. will miss the Jordan Brand Classic on Friday in Brooklyn with a sore back, he told ZAGSBLOG.

The 6-foot-10 Porter Jr. sat out both Wednesday and Thursday’s practices here in New York. He put some shots up during breaks on Thursday at Terminal 23 and also chatted with former NBA great Ray Allen.

“It got tight over the Hoop Summit,” the 6-foot-10 Porter Jr. told me Wednesday after practice. “I was thinking about not playing in that game but I had to represent the country, you know. But out here, I’m just trying to get it feeling better. It just tightened up over at the Hoop Summit.”
