  • Naz Reid, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2018 big man from Sports U and Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, is on a second visit to LSU this weekend.

Reid is on an unofficial visit with his mother, who has yet to see the campus. He took an official there earlier this summer.

“I only came to visit my girl and Javonte [Smart] for my birthday, that’s it,” he said by text.

Reid said no commitment has been made as of Saturday afternoon.

Naz Reid, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2018 big man from Sports U and Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, has trimmed his list to two schools: LSU and Arizona.

Reid had been working with a list of seven, but has now cut Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Seton Hall and UCLA.

He took a visit to LSU in June.

“It was good,” he said last month. “The school was bigger than I thought it was. There were a lot of interesting things. I saw the football stadium is big, the basketball court is big. The team is very family united, I like that. That’s a big thing. I feel like there’s a lot family-wise going on there.”

He said LSU has been recruiting him for two years but ramped up their interest after Will Wade took the job this spring.

PHILADELPHIA — Naz Reid is here at the Under Armour All-America Camp at Philadelphia University this week but won’t play because of a twisted knee he suffered last week at the Under Armour finals.

“Twisted it in Atlanta,” the 6-foot-10 Class of 2018 big man from Sports U and Roselle (N.J.) Catholic said here Wednesday.

Reid is coming off his first official visit to LSU.

Naz Reid, the 6-foot-10 Class of 2018 big man from Sports U and Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, enjoyed his first official visit to LSU this past week.

    “It was good,” he said.

LSU landed a pledge from 2018 point guard Javonte Smart this past week and Smart is working on getting Reid to join him. The two know one another from USA Basketball and an adidas select team that traveled to Italy.

“We’re real close,” the 6-4 Smart told NOLA.com. “That’s my man and I’m just trying to get him to come over here with me.”

The No. 11-ranked player in the 2018 ESPN 60, Reid now lists a top seven of Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Seton Hall and UCLA.

“His recruitment is just really starting to get to a point where he’s got to start  making some decisions on a bunch of different things and really start to look at this seriously,” RC head coach Dave Boff said recently on The 4 Quarters Podcast.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Naz Reid cut his list to seven schools this week: Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Seton Hall, and UCLA.

On Wednesday at the NBAPA Top 100 Camp, the 6-foot-10 big man from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic and the Sports U AAU program, discussed what led to the cut.

“Those schools are the ones that have been contacting me,” he said. “I feel like those schools could be like home. I feel like the culture around those schools is a family culture. I feel like I could be successful at any one of those schools.

Reid said he hoped to visit most of the schools on the list. He’s been to Seton Hall several times, and took a trip to UCLA after a recent AAU stop  in Los Angeles.
