  • Because he hasn’t played in a national all-star game like the McDonald’s All-American Game or the Nike Hoop Summit, and because he hasn’t played for any USA Basketball national teams, Marvin Bagley III remains a relative unknown to a many NBA GMs and scouts.

Bagley is coming off a summer in which he averaged 25.8 points, a league-high 14.9 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game for the Nike Phamily in the EYBL, but no NBA scouts were able to watch him at last month’s Peach Jam, where he was named to the All-Peach Jam First Team.

“He hasn’t played at anything an NBA scout has ever been at,” one NBA scout told ZAGSBLOG. “There’s just AAU and Drew League film floating around so I think everyone is waiting to see how real the hype is.”

De’Aaron Fox was an All-SEC First Team player at Kentucky

Justin Jackson was the ACC Player of the Year and won an NCAA championship at North Carolina.

Duke’s Harry Giles was once projected as the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft — and has won three gold medals with USA Basketball. Three.

Frank Mason was the consensus National Player of the Year at Kansas.

Now all four players are teammates on the Sacramento Kings.

Duke and Carolina guys. Kansas and Kentucky guys.

    Teammates.

Duke and Kentucky continue to pile up the lottery picks.

After Thursday night’s NBA Draft, Duke (23) now leads Kentucky (22), North Carolina (18) and Kansas (17) on the all-time list of lottery picks.

Duke’s Jayson Tatum went No. 3 to the Boston Celtics while Luke Kennard was selected No. 12 by the Detroit Pistons. (Duke also had Harry Giles go No. 20 to the Sacramento Kings, and Frank Jackson go No. 31 to the Charlotte Hornets.)

Meantime, Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox went No. 5 to the Sacramento Kings, Malik Monk was chosen No. 11 by the Charlotte Hornets and Bam Adebayo went No. 14 to the Miami Heat.

Former Louisville shooting guard Donovan Mitchell missed NBA Media Day on Wednesday  to work out for the Knicks, a source told ZAGSBLOG.

Mitchell has worked out for Sacramento, which owns the No. 5 and 10 picks, and for Dallas, which picks at No. 9.

The 6-foot-3 Mitchell, a native of Elmsford, N.Y., averaged 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season at Louisville. He’s currently projected as the No. 12 pick to the Detroit Pistons via Draft Express. The site currently has the Knicks taking French point guard Frank Ntilikina at No. 8. Ntilikina met Wednesday with Knicks executives, including Phil Jackson.

The Knicks, meantime, are considering trading Kristaps Porzingis, and have reached out to numerous teams above them in the lottery, seeking a combination of a draft pick and established players. As first reported by ZAGSBLOG, the Knicks talked to Philadelphia (No. 3) pick and Phoenix (No. 4), among others. ESPN later reported that the Knicks had talked to teams 1-5 in the lottery, which includes Boston (No. 1), the Lakers (No. 2) and Sacramento (No. 5).
