  • SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — One day before his team was to play at the Hoophall Classic, Kentucky-bound point guard Quade Green went into the Westtown (PA) School practice and delivered a message to Mohamed Bamba.

“I walked right into their practice and said ‘BBN.’ I just gave him a smirk and just left,” Green recounted Sunday after putting up 30 points and 10 assists en route to MVP honors as Neumann Goretti held off Greensboro Day School (N.C.), 72-69.

    “[Bamba] just laughed.”

Beginning Monday, Quade Green will be at the City of Palms Classic in Florida.

That same event also happens to feature Class of 2017 Kentucky targets Hamidou Diallo, Mohamed Bamba and Kevin Knox.

Don’t be surprised if Green tries to play Pied Piper by getting in their collective ear about joining him at Kentucky next season.

“That’s what I think drew Kentucky to him,” Neumann-Goretti coach Carl Arrigale said Thursday on The 4 Quarters Podcast one day after Green dropped 37 points, including 24 after intermission, as his team beat Philadelphia rival Imhotep Charter, 87-73. “I think when they were going around recruiting these other kids, everybody wants to play with him. Everybody loves his mentality and the way he plays.

PHILADELPHIA — Now that Quade Green is headed to Kentucky, he wants to bring his friends with him.

After committing to the Wildcats on Saturday night at Neumann Goretti High School, Green said he now has his sights set on adding Mohamed Bamba, Hamidou Diallo and Kevin Knox to another emerging star-studded class at Kentucky.

In what proved to be a very shrewd move (that other schools apparently did not take advantage of) Kentucky left tickets on Tuesday for the Champions Classic at  Madison Square Garden for Green, Bamba and other recruits.

Quade Green signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday night — the last day of the NCAA early signing period — and has already informed his future team where he is going, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told ZAGSBLOG.

The 6-foot-1 Green out of Neumann-Goretti will announce on Saturday night at his school for either Syracuse or Kentucky. Duke, Temple and Villanova, which were on his final list of five, are no longer in the mix, as Ben Roberts reported.

The early signing period ran Nov. 9-16, but Green will count as part of the early signing period since he has already signed.

Green was a guest of Kentucky on Tuesday night at the Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden when the No. 2 Wildcats beat No. 13 Michigan State, 69-48.

He sat with Mohamed Bamba, a 7-footer who is Green’s teammate with the PSA Cardinals and who will sign in the spring, as well as Kentucky signee Nick Richards and other recruits. Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who won an NCAA championship at Syracuse, also sat courtside.
