  • The recruiting process for Precious Achiuwa is on a slow burn but it continues to heat up.

The 6-foot-9, 210-pound small forward originally from Nigeria is ranked No. 23 in the 2019 ESPN 60 and No. 14 by 247Sports.com. He’s expected to grow to about 6-11 and already has a 7-1 wingspan.

St. John’s, Seton Hall, Minnesota, Kansas, North Carolina, UMass, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Western Kentucky, Indiana, Florida State, Georgetown, Villanova and South Carolina have all reached out recently with many of those schools passing through to see him at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, N.J.

“For right now, college recruiting is not really my focus right now, it’s getting better,” he said Wednesday by phone. “Just working on my game and then hopefully seeing what happens in the future.”

Nassir Little, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Orlando Christian Prep and the Adidas-sponsored 1Family AAU team, committed to North Carolina over Georgia Tech on Wednesday.

According to 247Sports, Little is ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of Florida.

Little will got his decision out of the way before he heads to a USA Basketball minicamp this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Little is projected as the No. 7 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft (to the Knicks) by ESPN.com. He previously considered Arizona, Duke and Miami as well.

Quentin Grimes, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound point guard from College Park High School (TX), enjoyed his official visit to Kentucky this past weekend.

He had already visited Texas (Sept. 22) and still has trips to Kansas (Oct. 13) and Marquette (Oct. 20) after a USA Basketball mini-camp this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“He went to Kentucky,” Rhossi Carron, Grimes’ AAU program director with Basketball University, told ZAGSBLOG. “It went good, I think he really liked it. Basically, they just have so much credibility just because of the success they’ve had, not just with elite guys but with guys they feel can be one-and-done.

“They feel like he’s one of the best guards in the country, like one of the better NBA prospects in that class. They feel if he came in and got to improving, the opportunity to play against other guys that are just as talented in practice will take him to another level. They feel he has a chance to be one-and-done.”
