  • NEW YORK — Khalid Moore, the 6-foot-8, 190-pound Class of 2018 wing from Archbishop Molloy High School and the NY Rens, has two official visits planned at the moment.

Moore will trip to Seton Hall (Sept. 28-30) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 22-24).

“I’m setting up an official visit later this month with Seton Hall, and then next month I’m supposed to be going to Georgia Tech,” Moore said Wednesday during an open gym.

As for Georgia Tech, head coach Josh Pastner has made inroads in New York City, landing former Christ the King point guard Jose Alvarado.

Thirty-seven coaches flocked to a 5:45 a.m. workout at Vermont Academy on Tuesday to check out Simi Shittu, the 6-foot-8 power forward.

Kentucky’s John Calipari, North Carolina’s Roy Williams, South Carolina’s Frank Martin, Notre Dame’s Mike Brey, Arizona’s Sean Miller and Vanderbilt’s Bryce Drew were all in the building.

Shittu recently listed Kentucky, South Carolina, Arizona, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon, Vanderbilt, New Mexico, ASU, and UConn as his top ten schools.

Shittu spoke about the seven schools working the hardest for his recruitment this summer. Kentucky, Arizona, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, and Arizona State were among the schools that are in his top ten. He broke down each of them:

Jalen Carey, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound point guard from the Playaz and Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception, enjoyed his official visit to Syracuse this past weekend and is now primarily focusing on three schools — Syracuse, UConn and Miami — his father told ZAGSBLOG on Monday.

Syracuse is recruiting Carey to play the point, while the other two see him as a combo guard, John Carey said.

“They’re recruiting him as a point guard,” he said of Syracuse. “He’s the only point guard they’re recruiting in this class right now. Basically he would come in, he could play right away, they want him to lead the team and they want him to play with [Darius] Bazley. With him, Oshae Brissett and Buddy Boeheim, it’s looking really, really scary over there.

“They love him. [Syracuse coach Jim] Boeheim said he’s definitely a big time player. He could play right away. He could see him getting drafted maybe one, two years.”
